C-AB 011 WORKING IN SERIES II
This class will be a bit different from the first Work in Series. Students will be doing a series of paintings of your choice. Students will be working on treatment of form. In other words the paintings will all be different but painted in the same method. For example all the paintings will be done in primary colors or all warm paintings with 10% cool. You will need to work from photographs or your own drawings. Your choice. This class will take some thought and prep. There will be information on why artist work in series. We will critique and discuss the work. Students will have individual attention and help. For more information call instructor at 681-0895. A follow-up to last year's Introduction to Film Noir, this class will continue our exploration of femme fatales, flawed heroes, shadowy pasts, rain-soaked streets, crimes gone wrong, and labyrinth-like cities in films from the 1940s and 1950s. Viewing cult classics like "Gun Crazy" and "Pick Up on South Street", we will explore noir as reflection of post-WWII America and discuss common motifs, recurring themes, and the rogue's gallery of noir characters. There is no prerequisite for this class. For those who took last year's class, this is an opportunity to look deeper into the noir universe. The history of classical music and musicians has been a part of the film world for decades. Biopics of famous composers and musicians, dramatizations of the lives of fictional performers of classical music, and operas transferred from the stage to the screen will be examined and discussed.
