S-E 001 NATIONAL PARKS GEOLOGY

History has created the dramatic landscapes found in our national parks, monuments, and seashores. Take a look at the geologic processes that have influenced these landscapes and answer such questions as why Hawaii National Park volcanoes look so different from Mount Rainier, why Yellowstone National Park has geysers and hot springs, and why the coastline of Cape Hatteras National Seashore on the east coast is so different from the Point Reyes National Seashore coastline on the west coast. The basics of geologic materials and processes will be covered as they become relevant to the parks being addressed. Offered by geologist and teacher Jim Aldrich. For more information contact the instructor at (360) 582-3038. Washington State clock hours offered.
