The U.S. Power Squadron's basic introductory course for both sail and power boaters includes lessons on seamanship, boat handling, boat types, rules of the road, navigation aids, regulations, adverse conditions, marine VHF radio, knots, trailering, introductory piloting, and digital charting. This course is approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators and is recognized by the U.S.C.G. and qualifies for the WA State Boating Operator's Card. C-SF 003 THE WILDS OF RUSSIA

Join expert photographer and naturalist, Coke Smith for another fantastic photo-based seminar series, this time covering the wildest places in the amazing country of Russia. In this series, travel with Coke to such wilderness areas as Kamchatka, Commander Islands, and the Kuril Islands. You will also be able to join on an exciting Siberian Tiger trek in the Primorya region of the Russian Far East. And no journey would be complete without sailing and trekking in Lake Baikal! This will be a five seminar series in photo-essay form that will no doubt leave you wanting to journey to Russia too! Washington State clock hours offered.

Across our country Grass Roots organizations impact the issues and decisions of democracy. This short look at the underlying politics and tools of Grass Roots Lobbying should be of interest whether you have a special interest or point of view you want to promote, or just want to understand how others have used this tool effectively. Dan Stengel is a tenured professor of Political Science at Peninsula College and a Port Townsend community member. Washington State clock hours offered.

In her presentation, "Women to Reckon With," PC English instructor Glynda Peterson-Schaad will tell stories from the book of the same title that she co-authored with her brother, Gary Peterson. The book presents a panorama of 19th century women's experiences on the North Olympic Peninsula, introducing us to women who have been forgotten, hidden, ignored, and--at times--even intentionally written out of history.
