Testing & Assessment

PLACEMENT TEST
The assessment score on the placement test indicates the appropriate starting point for each student. The COMPASS test is a computerized placement test. Calculators may be used in the algebra sections of the test; not the pre-algebra section. It is untimed, and therefore it is hard to estimate how long the session may last. Your results will be available minutes after the test. Students may request to take the ASSET test, a paper/pencil timed placement test.

To schedule a placement test, contact the Student Development Center at (360) 417-6340 or toll-free at  (877) 452-9277, Ext. 6340.

Pay the $15 testing fee in the Business Office (Building "C") and show the receipt at the time of the test. Placement tests on the main campus will be in the Student Services (clock tower) Building 'D', Room 212. Please bring your picture ID and student ID number.

Advising appointments will be scheduled after the completion of assessment and orientation.

Placement tests may also be scheduled through the Port Townsend Extension Site at (360) 385-4605 and the Forks Extension Site at (360) 374-3223. Placement test results from other colleges are acceptable. Contact the testing center for further information.
