Clallam Bay Community Preschool

A parent cooperative affiliated with Peninsula College's Family Life Education Program.

Program Philosophy
The Clallam Bay School (Cape Flattery School District) operates a preschool program for 3 to 4 year olds from September through June. Peninsula College offers regular parent education opportunities. The Clallam Bay/Sekiu Cooperative Preschool works with the preschool teacher and Peninsula College Staff to plan and implement activities such as fundraising, evening parent/child activities and potlucks. They also work to provide input for the parent education program as well as the curriculum.
Special Education identification and support are offered through the Clallam Bay School, and bus service is offered through the school district. Breakfast and lunch are served as part of the program. Health screenings are done annually as are developmental screenings. The program is designed to offer an inviting and stimulating learning environment that provides children with developmentally appropriate activities to meet a variety of individual and group needs.

Parents also volunteer as fieldtrip assistants, by participating in evening family activities, and as members of the Cooperative Board. Parents can also participate by preparing classroom materials and assisting with kitchen, classroom, playground, and housekeeping activities. Parents are presently involved in both ongoing and short-term fundraising efforts to raise money to enhance our playground environment.
