Program Philosophy The early childhood years are treasured at the Basic Beginnings Learning Center as being precious years of development. Young children have a love of learning and are excited about almost everything. They need lots of activity and learn best by doing. That is why the Center provides a variety of activities where the children have a chance to smell, see, hear, touch, and taste. Young children need to be nurtured in their social interactions. They need practice sharing, taking turns, and respecting others when they want to play alone. Social interaction is emphasized at the Center, where we teach and practice problem-solving skills. The Center recognizes the importance of nurturing social, emotional, and academic skills during the early childhood years. At the Center children get practice in these areas in ways that are fun and appropriate for their age and development.
