More about our Program We offer three levels of instruction. At each level, students learn important skills that prepare them for academic study. Students who complete the Intensive English Language Studies Program with 2.0 or above in all Level 3 classes are able to enroll in college classes.
Students learn the following:
- English skills (grammar, writing, reading, and oral communication)
- Academic study skills (class discussion, presentations, research papers, note-taking)
- American culture (interaction with domestic and international students, analysis of American culture, and use of campus and community resources)
Most students who enroll in our Intensive English Program earn an Associate’s degree at Peninsula College and then transfer to a four-year university in the U.S. to complete their Bachelor’s degree. Our students have transferred to University of Washington, University of California, Los Angeles, University of Texas, Austin, Pennsylvania State University and many other excellent U.S. institutions.
Classes We offer 3 classes at each level: Listening and Speaking class, Reading class, and Writing and Grammar class. Each class is 5 credit hours and meets Tuesday through Friday. On Mondays, students spend at least 3 additional hours working on individualized study plans either in our English language lab, the library, or in the comfort of their home.
