Transfer Checklist


 

 

  1. Attend career-planning workshops or classes http://pc.ctc.edu/prospective/edplanning/career/planning_courses.asp and speak with your academic advisor for transfer advice.


  2. Decide on a major field of study.


  3. Make good choices regarding course selections at Peninsula College that will apply to your lower division requirements at your transfer institution.


  4. Complete the prerequisites for major fields of study or entrance to a particular school or department.


  5. Conduct a college search http://pc.ctc.edu/prospective/edplanning/transfer/4year/default.asp for an institution that supports your major field, as well as your economic situation and personal interests.


  6. Visit several college campuses. Talk with an academic advisor or attend a transfer information session.


  7. Begin networking with professionals that work in your career of interest. Ask their advice.


  8. Attend transfer events http://pc.ctc.edu/prospective/edplanning/transfer/events.asp at Peninsula College, in Seattle, and at colleges you might like to attend in the future.


  9. Complete an Associate of Arts degree, Associate of Arts Honors degree, or Associate of Science degree http://www.pc.ctc.edu/academics/degrees.asp at Peninsula College. Check if your Associate of Applied Science degree and/or course credits will transfer to a four-year college.


  10. Check foreign language requirements http://pc.ctc.edu/prospective/edplanning/transfer/foreign.asp at your chosen institution.


  11. Take SAT or ACT exams if they are required by your chosen institution.


  12. Develop a financial plan http://www.pc.ctc.edu/prospective/edplanning/readiness/paying.asp for tuition and fees, books, housing, and other personal costs of living.


  13. Submit the Free Application For Student Aid (FAFSA) http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ on time.


  14. Apply for scholarships.

  16. Apply for admissions to your college selections. Be aware of deadlines!


  17. Prepare required essays for admission applications.


  18. Request that an official copy of your Peninsula College transcript http://pc.ctc.edu/enrolled/transcripts.asp be mailed as required by your college applications.


  19. Investigate available student services at your transfer institution.


  20. Make housing arrangements.


  21. Attend orientation sessions at your transfer institution.
