Tuition Policies
RESIDENCY TUITION POLICY
To be considered a resident for purposes of tuition, a person must be either (a) a financially independent student who has a domicile in the State of Washington for a period of one year immediately prior to the commencement of the quarter for which he/she has registered and has established Washington residence for reasons other than educational, or (b) a dependent student whose parents or legal guardians have maintained a domicile in the State of Washington for at least one year prior to commencement of the quarter for which he/she has registered.
A nonresident student enrolled for more than six credit hours per quarter shall be considered as attending primarily for educational purposes. Such period of enrollment shall not be counted toward establishment of domicile in this state unless he/she proves domicile was established for purposes other than educational.
IMPORTANT: Application for a change in classification shall be accepted up to the thirtieth calendar day following the first day of the instruction of the quarter for which application is made. Applications made after that date in any quarter shall be considered to have been filed as of the first day of the subsequent quarter.
COMMUNITY SERVICE TUITION POLICY
Fees for community service courses are based upon the costs of offering a specific course and are determined at the time the courses are scheduled.
MILITARY TUITION POLICY
Eligible Veterans or National Guard Members; Child and Spouse of Totally Disabled or POW/MIA or Deceased Eligible Veterans or National Guard Members may receive reduced rates as provided by state law. The Veterans Services Coordinator can provide information on qualification requirements. Contact Rosalie Kaune rosalieK@pcadmin.ctc.edu or (360) 417-6256.
To apply for educational benefits based on military service, veterans should provide certified true copies of the DD Form 214 and transcripts of military credits and transcripts of work completed at other colleges. After veterans have provided these forms and additional personal history, the Coordinator will send completed application forms to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). Once benefits are established, checks can be expected each month as payment for the preceding month; however, veterans should be prepared to wait 60-90 days for the first benefit check. Advance application will help minimize this waiting time.
Veterans who have GI Bill eligibility are encouraged to apply for their educational benefits. For veteran information, please contact Rosalie Kaune at rosalieK@pcadmin.ctc.edu.
TUITION REFUND POLICY
In accordance with RCW 28B.15.605, full refund of tuition and fees will be made to students who withdraw from courses prior to the sixth scheduled instructional day of the quarter for which tuition and fees were paid, or prior to the first class session of self-support. A full refund will be granted to students enrolled in courses that are canceled by the college.
A 50 percent refund of tuition only will be made to students (with the exception of those enrolled in self support courses) who withdraw from courses on or after the sixth scheduled instructional weekday of the quarter, but within 20 calendar days following the first scheduled instructional day of that quarter. Note: Refund policy may differ for condensed and/or early or late starting courses
For the eight week summer session, one hundred percent refunds will be given through the fourth instructional day and fifty percent refunds will be made through the sixteenth calendar day following the first scheduled instructional day of that quarter.
The refund period may be extended for students who qualify for an official medical withdrawal.
At any time during the quarter for which tuition and fees have been paid, a full refund will be considered for students who are called into military service of the United States.
Refunds will be granted for reductions of credit load without a complete withdrawal. Refunds will be made only in the academic year in which registration and fees are paid. Students who are required to withdraw because of misconduct will receive no refunds after the refund period.
No refund of tuition will be made to a student who has an existing financial obligation to the college.
